USB TO SATA/IDE DONGLE

In today's digital information age, just about everbody has a computer and we all most likely have most of our lives stored on them.  With everything from personal documents to multimedia data taking up space on our computers' hard drives, people don't give much thought to it other than that's where their stuff is at.  It's almost like a file cabinet or shelf of sorts and for the most part, people think their data will always be where they left it.  What people don't take into account is that unlike an actual shelf or filing cabinet, a computer's hard drive is mechanical with moving parts and therefore will eventually fail on them at some point.  With something mechanical such as a hard drive, it's more likely it will fail on you before one of your filing cabinet drawers even starts to get hard to open or the hinges holding up your shelf even begin to show signs of stress.  Keeping that thought in mind, people really should be more mindful of backing up their computer data and it's something we here at Excel Computers have always tried to emphasize with our customers.  But of course no matter how much we talk about data backup, it seems to be in our nature to take things for granted.  Or maybe it's the actual task or action of backing up one's data too complicated or takes more effort for a lot of people.  With the availability of easy access media like flash memory drives and external hard drives, the task is much easier now than it ever was back in the day of floppy disks and CD Recordable drives.

For the more computer inclined (like us computer geeks), there is also the availability of an extremely versatile device such as an external USB to SATA/IDE dongle.  With such a device, one can quickly and easily connect standard 2.5" and 3.5" internal SATA/IDE hard drives to their computers via one of your computer's USB 2.0 ports.  Having a USB to SATA/IDE dongle essentially does away with having an actual external case for each and every loose internal hard drive you may have lying around for data storage and/or backup.  Of course care must be excercised when working with internal computer components, but is already something familiar to those who have already worked on their own computers.

Comes with:

- USB to SATA / IDE cable
- SATA Cable
- SATA Power cord
- AC Power Adapter (100-240v, 50-60Hz)
- AC Power cable (UK, Asia and US style cables included)
- Driver CD

This USB 2.0 to SATA / IDE cable has support for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard drives, 3.5 and 2.5 inch IDE hard drives too and it can also be used with CD-ROM and DVD drives.

Looking at the mult-interface head, you can see that there are connectors for SATA, 3.5" IDE and 2.5" IDE.  You can connect on drive at a time (not all three) depending on the type of drive you have need to connect to.  The supplied AC power adapter will provide power for SATA and 3.5" IDE drives, wheras the 2.5" IDE drive will get power directly from the USB port itself.

From our testing use of this dongle, we had no problems copying files, moving files, running programs, watching videos or listening to audio files using this cable and hard drives. This Dongle/cable is easy to use, works great and is valuable tool for hardcore techie geeks and regular computer savy people alike. It's one of those items that doesn't get a lot of use, but as soon as you need one, you're thankful that you do.
