How to setup Cable modem internet service

  1. Attach coaxial cable service cable from wall into cable modem
  2. Attach USB or ethernet cable from cable modem into your computer or wireless router
  3. Plug cable modem power plug into electrical outlet
  4. If only on or two lights light up on cable modem then cable modem is not turned on. Press power button on , sometimes in rear of modem
  5. May need to press stand by button, usually on top or front of cable modem

How to setup DSL Internet Service on your computer
 
1)      Go to Start Button
2)      Go to Control Panel
3)      Double click Network Connections
 
4)      Click Create a new connection
5)      Click Next
6)      Select Connect to the Internet . Click Next
7)      Select setup my connection manually. Click Next
8)      Select connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password. Click Next
9)      Type in your internet service providers name. Click next
10) Select anyones use. Click Next
11) Enter your PPOE email account and password. Your internet service provider can provide you with your PPOE email account and password. Place Check mark in both boxes. Click Next
12) Place check mark in box. Click Finish
13) You are Done

Wireless Routers can cause lost of large amounts of your money

    Wireless routers that most consumers purchase come with no wireless security setup by default. Your wireless router signal can possibly reach 300 feet from your home. Your neighbors can then use your internet service to browse internet, steal information from your computers, etc. If they illegally download movies, music, etc you can be held liable for their actions and lose large amounts of money in court.

Recovering Deleted Files

In this day and age of digital information, we've become dependent on our computers to organized much of that information.  With everything from documents to multimedia put in the form of a data file, sometimes we forget just how easy it can be to lose them.  So lets say you accidentally delete some of that important data and it somehow missed the Windows recycle bin, is all hope lost?  Though the recycling bin is present as a safety net against accidental or mistaken file deletion, just because it's not in there doesn't mean your data is gone forever.

For those who like to add convenience to their Windows interface, here's a quick tip which saves you a step or two in opening your web browser to commonly used web sites. Right click on the start button and choose 'properties,' then hit the 'customize' button. Choose the 'advanced' tab and scroll down the 'start menu items' box until you reach the 'favourites menu' option. Check it to add your IE favourites list to the start menu as a new tree.
