Sometimes the online map search engines get your address wrong. Locate your address on the map search engine and look for the map copyright at the bottom of the page. The map copyright will indicated the provider of your address information. Click on the correct link to correct your address.

    There is a new virus that can infect most versions of Internet Explorer, no matter the type of prptection on the computer system. Infection happens when the internet explorer is redirected to a infected website. Once infected, passwords and other confidential can be stolen and infected computer has capability of infecting websites that are visited. Microsoft has no fixes yet and so we recommend users can choose to use Firefox, safari, or  chrome browsers. At Excel Computers we install firefox and safari as alternative browsers . So far most infected websites are located in China and have been stealing accounts and passwords from Chinese Online Gamers.

Most online video sites use the flash video format to stream video. You can download the flash player at www.adobe.com . Don't allow a website to install other video codecs. Do a google search on that codec before installing.

Caution some viruses will infect your computer if you download a video codec to your computer. Here are some samples of fake video codecs and the resulting virus infection afterwards.

What can you do to remove virus? If your computer gets infected a windows xp system restore may help, go to start button, select all programs, select accessories, select system tools, select system restore. Choose a date to restore your computer system to. Two other products I recommend are Lavasoft adaware 2008 and Spybot search and Destroy. If the virus infection does not go away we can remove the virus infection for you. Please bring in your computer system for service estimates.

In this day and age of computers and essentially having your life put on them , it still surprises me how not seriously people take idea that you should always backup your data.  More often than not, someone will bring in a computer where their hard drive has either failed or they somehow been the victim of a massive virus infection worried about their files.  Fortunately for our customers, our many years of computer service experience allow us to be successful in recovering their data a good percentage of the time.  However, sometimes there just isn't anything we can do under certain circumstances and the customer has permanently lost their precious data.  The lesson here that we always try to tell people is to backup their data.  Even with that said, the reality is that sometimes people either procrastinate or are possibly intimidated with the task of backing up their data.

With digital music downloads and portable MP3 players the norm these days, we had to wonder just how much longer music CDs were going to be around for.  With yet another physical format for music coming out, it would seem another nail has just been hammered into the coffin for audio CDs.  While I understand it is inevitable that technology must move forward, sometimes it's hard saying goodbye to those things we have gotten so used to over the years.  Well to be honest I didn't really care when VHS tapes finally dissappeared from store shelves as I was an avid supporter of the DVD format since it came out, the reality that the end is near for music CDs has gotten my attention.  It's true that my own music CD purchases are few and far in between these days, but I always took comfort in the idea that if I wanted my music in an uncompressed format (for better audio quality), that I could just go to the store or online and buy the CD.

When I was young I used to watch the original Knight Rider TV Series avery week. Some of the technology reatured in KITT, the car, from the original TV series is available in todays cars. The new TV series features a more advanced vehicle, I don't think some of the more advanced techbologies will make it to future cars.

GIMP is GNU image manipulation program. It is a FREE program and available for Windows and Linux operating system. With every new version it is coming close to the features of programs like Photoshop. Here are some video tutorial and links for GIMP.
